Dr Ajay Duseja is presently working as Professor and Head in the department of Hepatology, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India.

He is Fellow of American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD), Fellow of American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS), Fellow of Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (FINASL), Fellow of Indian Society of Gastroenterology (FISG), Fellow of the Society of GI Endoscopy of India (FSGEI), and Master of Indian Society of Gastroenterology (Master-ISG).

He is the Secretary-General of the Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL) for last five years and also the National Convener of the INASL Task Force on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and the Principal Investigator of the Indian Consortium on MASLD (ICOM-D) –an on-going real-life study on MASLD in India involving 45 centres.

He is the member of the Chronic Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) NASH/MASH Committee (USA), member of Global NASH/MASH Council and Global Liver Council (USA), member of the Gut and Obesity in Asia (GOASIA) working group.

He is author of more than 475 publications in reputed international and national journals and has more than 45 chapters in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology text books.

His main areas of interest include MASLD, acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), viral hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma. He is Principal Investigator for various Extra-mural research projects and has several national and international awards to his credit.

Dr. Amol Bapaye is Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist and Director of Shivanand Desai Center for Digestive Disorders, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Center, Pune, India. He is a member of the ISG, SGEI, JGES, ASGE, and ESGE; and has been awarded the prestigious ‘Master of SGEI (MSGEI), and prestigious fellowships of societies – FISG, FASGE, and FJGES. Originally a surgeon by training, Dr. Bapaye has been practicing interventional endoscopy as an exclusive specialty for last 26 years. His clinical and research interests include advanced ERCP, interventional EUS, endoscopic resections including EMR / ESD / full-thickness resections, Third Space Endoscopy and GERD Endotherapy.

Completed all his academic studies of MBBS, DNB(MED), MD(MED), DM(GASTRO) from prestigious AIIMS. He Subsequently obtained his LIVER TRANSPLATATION fellowship from QUEEN ELIZABETH hospital BIRMINGHAM in 1999 and was awarded FELLOWSHIP of Royal college of physicians of EDNINBURGH, FRCP(EDINBURGH) in 2004 and FELLOWSHIP of Royal college of physicians of London, FRCP(London) in 2014.At present he is the Chairman of Institute of liver gastroenterology and pancreaticobiliary sciences at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital which is one of the premier academic institutions of the country. Besides providing a high standard of clinical care to the patients he has been regularly writing the scientific articles in national and international journals leading to over 240 publications in the indexed medical

journals bedsides authoring a number of book chapters. He has a great interest in study of viral hepatitis and is well known for his expertise in treating chronic hepatitis B and C infection, Hepatocellular carcinoma, stem cell therapy in liver diseases and liver

transplantation. He keeps himself updated with latest trends in medicine with an enquiring and inquisitee mind. Presently he is also the Head of the liver transplant team and coordinates all academic activities in the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Sir Ganga ram hospital. He is a very skilled endoscopist

regularly performing ERCPS and all types of therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He was instrumental in the set-up of a first advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy set up in the private sector in north India and has been spearheading the endoscopy teaching programme for almost three decades. He is heading the third space endoscopy programme with experience of more than 500 POEM procedures as the leading centre of advanced endoscopy procedures of multihued tapestries having successfully conducted almost twenty therapeutic endoscopy workshops over the last two decades He has started the first ever structured in house certificate course in Gi MOTILITY ( often neglected in academic curricula) training comprising of hands on training coupled with didactic lectures for training of budding gastroenterologists from India and abroad. He is soon starting the first structured hands on certificate course in endosonography for the young students after passing their DM/DNB GASTRO exams. Dr. Arshdeep Singh is an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, whose academic work has focused on advancing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research, education, and patient care in India. He has authored more than 80 indexed publications with over 1,500 citations and an H-index of 21, publishing in leading journals including Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis. His research spans IBD epidemiology, microbiome-based therapies, fecal microbiota transplantation, and emerging treatments such as tofacitinib, including landmark studies such as the TACOS and ORCHID trials. Dr Ashok Choudhury is currently the Additional Professor in the Department of Hepatology and Liver Transplant, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi India.

His area of interests is ACLF, HCC, Liver transplant and Artificial intelligence. The AARC ACLF score, Golden Window of sepsis in ACLF, Transplant Window in ACLF are among the few credited to his invention. He is also the principal coordinator for AARC (APASL ACLF Research Consortium-the largest pan-Asia registry), Global-Principal Investigator of CLEARED Consortium.

He has 146 publications till date with h-index (36) and 9131 citations till date.

He also played the lead role for developing 4 guidelines and consensus on ACLF liver failure for Asia pacific association for study of liver as well as from EASL/AASLD initiative for global harmonisation of ACLF definition.

He is the recipient of prestigious RISING STAR Award 2024 of Asia Pacific Association for Study of Liver for his contribution to field of hepatology in Asia Pacific.

Dr. B.S. Ramakrishna is Director and Senior Consultant, Institute of Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary Science & Transplantation at the SIMS Hospitals, Vadapalani, Chennai, India.

Formerly Professor and Head of the Gastroenterology Department at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, he is a practicing clinician and endoscopist besides conducting research on small bowel disease, inflammatory bowel disease and the gut microbiome.

He is a Fellow of several National Academies and has served as President of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology. He has served on committees in the World Gastroenterology Organization, the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology, and the Welcome Trust, UK, in addition to numerous funding committees of the Government of India.

Dr. George M. Varghese is an infectious diseases physician, researcher, and Professor at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, with over two decades of experience in infectious diseases and tropical medicine.     Important Contributions

    Dr Dhiman is the frontrunner for the Elimination of Viral Hepatitis in India. Started the Viral Hepatitis C elimination project in Punjab, aimed to treat approximately 10 lakh people with Direct antivirals. Devised a low cost highly effective algorithm for the treatment of hepatitis C. After looking at the success of Punjab Model, the Government of India launched the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) on 28 July 2018 with provision of free diagnosis and treatment for patients with viral hepatitis through the National Health Mission with Dr Dhiman as Chairman of “Technical Resource Group (TRG)”.

    Biography of Dr. Sanjiv Saigal

    Dr. Sanjiv Saigal works as Vice Chairman & Head of Hepatology and Liver Transplant Medicine at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket, Delhi, India. As a skilled hepatologist, he has spearheaded the medical team of liver transplantation in India for over 24 years, with an experience in dealing with more than 5000 liver transplants, both living donor and cadaveric. He has over 175 peer-reviewed publications in reputed Journals, and has been the Editor of two books in Hepatology. He has received numerous awards, including the Calcutta University Gold Medal, National Pfizer Award and Human Care Award, and is an INLAKS Scholar trained at King’s College Hospital, London. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, Edinburgh) and a Fellow of the same (FRCP, Edinburgh). He is also the Fellow of the Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (Fellow-INASL), and the Master of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (Master-ISG). He has been the Governing Council member of the Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL). He has been a member of several taskforces of INASL, such as Alcoholic Liver Disease, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Acute Liver Failure & MASLD, and has regularly conducted Liver Transplant SIG meetings at the Annual INASL meetings.

    He conducts Transplant Hepatology Fellowship program as the Course Director for over a decade now. He also conducts online certificate courses on management of various aspects of liver diseases.     Dr Dhir did his advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Academic Medical Centre Amsterdam in 1994. Currently he is the Chairman of Institute of Digestive Liver Care, S L Raheja Hospital, Mumbai, India. His principle interests are Interventional hepatobiliary endoscopy including interventional EUS. Dr Dhir has more than 100 original articles and 60 abstracts published in peer reviewed journals. He has written 12 book chapters.     Dr. Zaigham Abbas Rizvi

    Dr. Zaigham Abbas Rizvi is a Principal Scientist-I at THSTI with over 15 years of experience in immunology, infectious diseases, vaccine development, and translational biomedical research. His research focuses on understanding the immune mechanisms underlying chronic inflammatory diseases, host–pathogen interactions, gut–lung axis biology, with particular emphasis on the role of adaptive and innate immune responses in tissue injury, fibrosis, and disease progression.

    Dr. Rizvi leads preclinical research programs supporting vaccine and biotherapeutic development and serves as a lead scientist for CEPI-supported preclinical evaluation studies. His laboratory investigates the immunopathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis, exploring the contribution of T-cell-mediated inflammation, trained immunity, and immune-metabolic pathways in pancreatic injury and fibrosis. Through the development and characterization of preclinical models, his group has identified key inflammatory pathways driving disease progression and evaluated immune-modulatory therapeutic strategies aimed at limiting pancreatic inflammation and fibrotic remodeling.

    He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, holds multiple patents, and has contributed to the advancement of translational immunology through national and international collaborations. Dr. Rizvi serves as an Editor and reviewer for several leading international journals in immunology and infectious diseases.
