Abstract Submission Guidelines

The World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) and the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) invite gastroenterologists, internists, surgeons, hepatologists, radiologists, pediatricians, medical students, medical residents, and GI fellows to submit abstracts for the World Congress of Gastroenterology 2026, to be held in New Delhi, India.

General Information

Please read all instructions carefully to ensure compliance with submission requirements.

1. Scope and Originality

Abstracts should relate to clinical or research-oriented work in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology.

Abstracts must be original and must not have been published previously or accepted for publication. If the work has been presented previously at another conference, this must be clearly stated at the time of submission.

2. Language

As this is an international meeting, English will be the official language of the scientific program.

Presenting authors whose abstracts are accepted for oral presentation are expected to present their work and answer questions from the audience in English.

3. Presentation Formats

WCOG 2026 offers the following presentation formats:

Oral Free Papers
Poster Free Papers
Young Investigator Awards (the presenting author must be under 45 years of age)

4. Scientific Categories

One of the following categories must be selected for each abstract submission:

Basic Science
Biliary Tract and Gallbladder Diseases
Endoscopy and Interventional Gastroenterology
Gastrointestinal Oncology
Hepatology
Luminal Gastroenterology / Neurogastroenterology
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Microbiome and Gut Health
Pancreatology
Pediatric Gastroenterology
Preventive Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Education
Miscellaneous, including:
- - Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health in Gastroenterology
  - Climate and environmental change and digestive diseases
  - GI Pathology, Radiology, and Interventional Radiology
  - GI Surgery
  - Gastrointestinal manifestations of systemic diseases
  - Gastrointestinal infections
  - Nutrition
  - Peritoneal diseases
  - Proctology
  - Telemedicine and remote GI care
  - Training and innovations in gastroenterology, hepatology, and endoscopyOne of the following categories must be selected for each abstract submission:

5. Preparation of Abstracts

All abstracts must conform to the following guidelines.

Abstracts must be submitted online only. Abstracts submitted by mail, fax, email, or courier service will not be accepted.

Title

The title should be concise and clearly reflect the content of the
The title should be typed in Sentence case.

Authors

A valid email address must be provided for each author. Only one author may be designated as the presenting author. Institutional affiliation details must be entered for each author.

Abstract Body

Abstracts should be structured using the following subheadings:
Background/Aims, Materials/Patients and Methods, Results, Conclusion.

Do not include any author-identifying information within the abstract body, including references to institutions, titles, positions, or appointments.

Abstracts submitted as Clinical Vignettes or Case Reports should provide a clear description of the case(s).

Word limit: 300 words

References:
References should not be included.

Images and Tables:
Images and tables are not permitted.

Drug Names:
Abstracts must not contain advertising, corporate logos, trade names, or product-group messages of commercial interest. Proprietary names should not be used.

Plenary Sessions / Young Investigator Awards
The highest-rated oral presentations will be selected to be presented in the Presidential Plenary Sessions.

Case reports will not be considered for the Young Investigator Awards.

As this is a World Congress, submission of a full manuscript is not required for consideration for the Presidential Plenary Session or the Young Investigator Session.

Accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement issue of the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology.

6. Attendance

The presenting author of an accepted abstract must attend the congress and pay the applicable registration fee. Registration is mandatory for everyone to participate in the congress.

Notification of Acceptance: June 30, 2026

Account creation is mandatory to submit an abstract. If you have forgotten your password, you may request a password reminder email.
Registration and Abstract Submissions are running on the same portal.

Abstract Submission Process

Items marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
The system will notify you if required fields are missing.
Please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical, or scientific errors.
Abstract text will be reproduced exactly as submitted; no proofreading will be performed.
The format will be standardized for all abstracts.
Carefully review the abstract preview before submission.
Once all required information has been completed, submit your abstract by clicking the “final submission” button at the bottom of the page.
Submitted abstracts cannot be modified. However, you can save your abstract as a draft if you want to rework on it.
A confirmation email with a preview of the submitted abstract will be sent after successful submission.

List of Authors

Submitting Author: The person who submits the abstract and receives all correspondence related to the presentation.
Presenting Author: The person who will present the abstract at the meeting and will be identified as the presenter in the scientific program.
Co-authors: Individuals who scientifically endorse the abstract and are therefore responsible for its content.

By clicking the “Add Author” button, you can select the number of co-authors you want to add for your abstract. In case you have more co-authors than the number given in the abstract submission portal, kindly write to the congress secretariat.

Please enter full names (first, middle, and last name), using lowercase letters with the first letter capitalized. Institute and city of all the co-authors should also be mentioned.

All authors and co-authors must declare any financial or other interests related to companies connected with the study.
